Families & Community Outreach
My classroom will be a community not only for students but also for their families. I will build positive relationships with the families at the beginning of the year to provide a support system and to avoid conflict in the future (Booker, K.). I will provide opportunities for parents to be involved in our classroom community and in their child’s education. Opportunities for parents to volunteerwill be provided regularly.
The skills and hobbies of the parentswill be acknowledged
and used to enhance the classroom and students experiences.
Parents will be invited to speak regularly in the classroom and share their knowledge. Families will be updated regularly through the classroom website and weekly newsletters. Newsletters will provide parents with advice and ways in which they can help their child with schoolwork and social skills. There will be 3 or more opportunities a semester for families and students to get together outside of school and do community service. These opportunities will allow families to bond and connect outside of school while being involved with the community. Our classroom community will be based upon positive realtionships.
